Standardized contributor profile
Completed once to record role, trade, experience, company stage, geography, work type, and other context needed for responsible comparison.
Research and reporting standard
Questions First is ABDOREN’s research philosophy: before a formal study begins, ABDOREN defines the question, who may answer, what the standardized fields mean, which open response questions and later outcome checks apply, how answers are compared, when collection stops, and what can be published.
The research architecture
Completed once to record role, trade, experience, company stage, geography, work type, and other context needed for responsible comparison.
Branching questions measure the relevant decision, trigger, alternatives, cost or resource band, timing, implementation, and outcome.
The contributor explains what happened in their own words. Selected verified interviews add depth where the structured record cannot.
When the decision is still unfolding, later contact tests the early explanation against the outcome that actually followed.
Governing principles
Set the question, eligibility, wording, analysis, exclusions, stopping rule, withdrawal deadline, and data lock before answers begin.
Keep a visible amendment record and label any analysis created after collection as exploratory.
Public discussion, structured studies, interviews, and repeated measures do not carry the same weight.
Report exact eligible response counts, relevant participant composition, and incomplete responses.
Collect only what is needed, restrict access, avoid revealing small groups, and review identification risk.
Publish corrections, replacements, and retractions with a clear dated record.
Different kinds of evidence
LinkedIn polls, comments, and other unverified discussion. Useful for discovering questions, not for claims about the whole industry.
An answer collected under a written study plan with stated eligibility and reasonable verification.
Detailed, contextual evidence from a participant whose relevant perspective has been confirmed.
The same stable measure collected over time, with any change in method or participant mix disclosed.
Follow the issue over time
What studies may measure
The exact measures depend on the question, but ABDOREN examines success across financial, operational, human, and personal outcomes instead of treating revenue as the final answer.
Revenue, profit, pricing, cash flow, dependable owner compensation, and the ability to meet obligations.
Scope clarity, quality, safety, schedule, communication, changes, payment, and customer trust.
Capability, leadership, retention, development, working conditions, and whether the team can grow stronger.
Whether the business can make decisions and deliver work without requiring the owner to rescue every process.
Whether strong outcomes survive growth, slow seasons, disruption, disputes, and changes in the market.
Whether success can endure without permanent exhaustion or damage to health, family, and purpose.
Where the evidence permits, ABDOREN compares reported practices with outcomes and discloses survivor bias, missing perspectives, and other limits that could affect the conclusion.
Geography and ZIP
Collect exact work geography only when the study question requires it and through the approved structured intake.
Use the work, service territory, or project geography relevant to the answer; never request a street address for classification.
Derive only the broad geography needed for analysis, such as state, metro, county, Census division, or urban and rural classification.
State the enforceable retention and deletion schedule in the study notice before collection begins.
Default public geography to a broad region or Census division unless a study safely supports greater detail.
Never publish an exact five digit ZIP code or a map that could reveal a person, company, or project.
Exact geography is not a measure of construction spending by itself. It becomes useful only when paired with relevant company, work, project, decision, and outcome context.
Public and restricted information
For completed studies: objectives, eligibility, methods, field dates, composition, limitations, reportable findings, and corrections.
Identities, company information, verification sources, linkage keys, individual response records, unpublished subgroup analyses, and the detailed research database.
Commercial research boundary
ABDOREN may publish free resources, sell aggregate benchmark reports, or conduct commissioned research. ABDOREN discloses any funding relationship. A buyer or sponsor cannot rewrite eligibility, remove an unfavorable result, purchase identified participant records, or control the conclusion. Service files remain outside the research system unless a person later joins a separate study under separate consent.
Research independence
ABDOREN is operated by Alpha General Construction LLC and is not organizationally or financially independent of that company. For each study, research independence means that questions, inclusion rules, analysis, and publication decisions are not changed to favor Alpha General Construction, an ABDOREN client, or a planned service. Relevant financial and operating interests will be disclosed.
Source basis
These sources inform ABDOREN’s operating choices. They do not make the program clinical research, reviewed by an IRB, regulated by HIPAA, or a probability sample.
This operating standard is not legal advice. Participant consent, privacy, retention, security, antitrust, vendor, and nationwide state law implications require qualified legal review before external structured collection begins.
