Common profile
Trade, role, experience, geography or service area, company age, employee and revenue bands, work mix, and project context.
Construction research
ABDOREN combines standardized profiles and focused questionnaires with firsthand explanations, interviews, and later outcome checks. Structured data makes experiences comparable. Firsthand explanation shows what happened, why it happened, and what happened next.
Research enrollment is currently closed. Enrollment for a study opens only after the study’s questionnaire, consent process, privacy safeguards, study rules, and legal review are complete.
Two connected records
The contributor’s own words explain what the decision meant, why it was made, and what a fixed choice question missed. The coded research record makes that experience comparable without attaching a public identity to it.
Trade, role, experience, geography or service area, company age, employee and revenue bands, work mix, and project context.
The trigger, alternatives, timing, cost or resource band, implementation, expected result, actual result, and what the person would do differently.
Firsthand explanations and optional interviews preserve the reasoning, disagreement, mistakes, and context behind the structured answers.
Reviews at six and twelve months, when relevant, show whether the result lasted and what changed after the original response.
The common profile is completed once. Branching study modules ask only what is relevant to that participant, role, and decision.
The core research lenses
There may not be one answer. A practice that works for a large commercial contractor may fail a small remodeling company. The point is to determine where a practice or finding applies, not stretch it until it sounds universal.
Success is defined
Revenue, profit, cash stability, quality, safety, trust, retention, owner independence, resilience, and personal sustainability.
Success is achieved
How dependable work is built, pricing improves, teams grow, leadership develops, and useful systems take hold.
Success is maintained
What protects quality, cash, customer trust, employee capability, and sound decision making as the work continues.
Success is threatened
How rapid growth, slow seasons, disputes, labor pressure, poor controls, and market change weaken or reshape a business.
Projects are delivered
How sales, scope, planning, handoffs, field execution, changes, payment, and closeout shape the outcome for every side.
The research field
A weak estimate becomes a scope problem. A scope problem becomes a field problem. The field problem affects schedule, cash, trust, and sometimes the entire company. ABDOREN studies those connections without pretending every problem has the same cause.
How success is defined, achieved, maintained, threatened, recovered, and made worthwhile.
Sales, estimating, scope, handoffs, scheduling, changes, execution, payment, and closeout.
Profit, cash flow, backlog, pricing, capacity, owner dependence, growth, and operating discipline.
Hiring, training, retention, decision making, productivity, field conditions, and career paths.
Workmanship, rework, callbacks, inspections, safety practices, liability, and prevention.
Customer expectations, communication, trade coordination, supplier reliability, and conflict.
Costs, codes, permits, labor markets, work types, climate, and local conditions across the United States.
Materials, insurance, regulation, technology, new tools, economic pressure, and changing expectations.
These are research domains, not a fixed calendar or a promise that every subject will become a published finding.
Questions grounded in decisions
How the work is shared
Public questions, interviews, articles, study summaries, reports, and free practical resources make useful knowledge available and invite better questions.
Permissioned coded records can support aggregate benchmarks, paid reports, and commissioned research without selling participant identities or allowing a buyer to control the finding.
Who the work is for
People starting a construction business and trying to avoid preventable mistakes
Experienced people improving an established company or project system
Successful people trying to sustain the business without being consumed by it
Customers, workers, suppliers, and professionals whose decisions shape the same outcomes
Research responsibility
Alpha General Construction operates ABDOREN and is part of its origin. Each study has written rules before collection begins, and findings are not changed to protect either company, a client, or a service. Alpha’s experience may identify a question worth studying, but it is never treated as ABDOREN’s finding or proof.
